Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 May 2026
These Terms govern your use of Iris Clinical ("Iris Clinical"), an AI assistant for UK optometrists. By creating an account or using Iris Clinical you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use Iris Clinical
Iris Clinical is intended for use by registered UK optometrists and members of their clinical team. You confirm you have the professional standing to interpret the drafts Iris Clinical produces and that you will exercise your own clinical judgement.
2. Clinical responsibility
Iris Clinical generates draft referral letters, chat responses, and other clinical text to assist you. Iris Clinical does not provide medical advice and is not a medical device. Every draft must be reviewed, edited, and signed by a qualified clinician before being sent or acted on. Clinical decisions and patient outcomes remain the responsibility of the optometrist.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not use Iris Clinical to generate content that is unlawful, harmful, or misleading.
- Do not attempt to bypass rate limits, scrape the service, or reverse-engineer the models behind it.
- Do not upload patient identifiers unless your practice's information governance policy explicitly permits it.
- One account per person. Do not share login credentials.
4. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
5. Billing
Iris Clinical offers a free tier and paid plans. Paid plans renew monthly from the date started, until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. VAT is applied where applicable.
6. Service availability
We aim to keep Iris Clinical available but do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee. We may perform maintenance, update features, or temporarily suspend access for security reasons.
7. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of the clinical content you enter and the drafts produced for your patients. We retain ownership of the Iris Clinical software, brand, and underlying models. You grant us a limited licence to process your input solely to provide the service.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Iris Clinical is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses arising from clinical decisions made using Iris Clinical output. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law (including for fraud or personal injury caused by negligence).
9. Data protection
We process personal data in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Where you input personal data about your patients, you remain the data controller and we act as your processor for that data. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to share that data with Iris Clinical and for following your practice's information governance policy.
10. Termination
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or that pose a security or safety risk.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
13. Contact
