Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Iris Clinical ("we", "us", "our"), operated from the United Kingdom. By creating an account or using Iris Clinical, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. About Iris Clinical
Iris Clinical is an AI-powered clinical workspace designed to support UK optometrists with referral letter generation, clinical note structuring, AI clinical chat, and access to a clinical image bank.
Iris Clinical is a clinical support tool only. It is not a diagnostic tool, does not provide medical diagnoses, and does not replace the clinical judgement of a qualified optometrist or other healthcare professional. Clinical responsibility for all patient care decisions remains solely with the treating clinician.
2. Eligibility
By using Iris Clinical you confirm that:
- You are a qualified optometrist, pre-registration optometrist, optometry student, or other authorised healthcare professional in the United Kingdom
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You have the authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your organisation
- You will use Iris Clinical only for lawful professional purposes
3. Your Account
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Ensuring your account details are accurate and kept up to date
- Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
You may not share your account with any other person. Each account is for individual use only.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Iris Clinical only for its intended clinical support purposes. You must not:
- Enter full patient identifiers including name, date of birth, NHS number, or home address into any part of the platform
- Attempt to manipulate, override, or jailbreak the AI system
- Use Iris Clinical for any purpose outside of legitimate UK optometry clinical practice
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or reproduce any part of the platform
- Share, resell, or sublicense access to Iris Clinical to any third party
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the platform
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
- Upload any content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes third party rights
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice.
5. Clinical Disclaimer
Iris Clinical is a clinical support tool designed to assist qualified professionals. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or replace professional clinical judgement.
All outputs generated by Iris Clinical — including referral letters, clinical notes, patient explanations, urgency suggestions, and chat responses — are AI-generated drafts for review and editing by a qualified clinician. They must not be used without review and clinical oversight.
You acknowledge that:
- Clinical judgement remains your sole responsibility
- AI-generated outputs may contain errors and must always be reviewed before use
- Iris Clinical is not a substitute for appropriate clinical training, supervision, or professional development
- Iris Clinical is not regulated as a medical device under UK MDR 2002 or EU MDR 2017
6. Subscription and Payment
Iris Clinical offers the following plans:
Free Plan — £0/month
Includes 3 referral letters per month with no payment required.
Pro Plan — £19.99/month (VAT inclusive)
Includes unlimited referral letters, unlimited AI clinical chat, access to the clinical image bank, and priority access to new features.
Pre-reg and Student Plan — £15.99/month (VAT inclusive)
Available to verified pre-registration optometrists and optometry students. Discount verified on application.
All paid subscriptions:
- Are billed monthly in advance
- Renew automatically unless cancelled
- Are processed securely by Stripe
- Include VAT at the applicable UK rate
- Are non-refundable except where required by UK consumer law
7. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to Pro features until that date.
We do not offer refunds for partial months except in the following circumstances:
- A technical fault on our part prevented you from accessing the service for a significant period
- You are entitled to a refund under UK consumer protection law

8. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, and materials within Iris Clinical are the intellectual property of Iris Clinical and are protected by UK copyright law. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our express written permission.
You retain ownership of any clinical content you input into the platform. By using the platform you grant us a limited licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, Iris Clinical shall not be liable for:
- Any clinical outcome, patient harm, or adverse event arising from use of or reliance on AI-generated content
- Any loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity
- Any indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the platform
- Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated outputs
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of Iris Clinical shall not exceed the total amount paid by you in the three months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
10. Data and Privacy
Your use of Iris Clinical is subject to our Privacy Policy, available at irisclinical.co.uk/privacy.
We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office under registration number C1962125.
We are committed to handling your data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Anonymous queries (the text you send to Iris and the AI-generated response) may be retained and used internally to monitor quality, debug issues, and improve Iris Clinical. Do not include patient-identifiable information in your queries.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via an in-app notification. Continued use of Iris Clinical after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
